FAQs
What kind of Goldens are they?
We have some field goldens as well as some european lines.
Generally, what kind of temperament do your puppies have?
It can depend on the parents we have. However, for the most part, our goldens are typically laid back and very trainable. We are very thankful for the lines that we have. These are the most important questions that we look for when we are deciding what females or males to add to our breeding line:
- Are they easily trainable?
- Are they good with kids?
- Do they have a strong desire to please their families?
- Do they have a mixture of wanting to be active but also laid back?
Have you had any negative experiences or problems with families?
About 80% of our clients are referrals. We love this so much because it helps us know that our beloved goldens are going to great homes. We have only ever had one puppy returned to us and this was a unique situation having to do with the owner having a physical disability and not allowing him to have a puppy.
Are they okay with other animals?
We try to expose them to the horses and cats and our other adult dogs. So they do leave our home having a decent amount of experience with other animals.
Do you offer a payment plan?
No we do not.
Do you have a “warranty”?
We call this a “health guarantee.” So yes we do.
What do I need to/should have before I get my puppy?
We like to crate train our dogs, so this affects our answer. 🙂 I would say get a crate, comfy blankets, stuff animals. This creates a safe space for your puppy, which is really important especially when coming into a new place. Another thing to decide is what food to feed your pup. We are happy to give you our advice on dog food since dog food can be very overwhelming.
After I get my puppy, can I send occasional updates?
We LOVE the updates we get from our families. I especially LOVE IT when people tag us on their pictures and videos on instagram and facebook.
What are some crate training tips? How do we get them to stop crying at night?
I use a sound machine to help them calm down. If you’re able to put them in a secluded place where there isn’t much activity, it does help. Also, puppy lullabies found on spotify or youtube has helped a lot in my experience.
What can we expect for female dogs going through heat?
Are they AKC?
They are!
Do you do AKC recommended testing? OFA certified?
We do AKC recommended testing and they are OFA certified. We do hips, elbows and thyroid testing all at the age of 2.
How much is the deposit/ when to put down the deposit and pay all fees?
The deposit is $200 and the rest being $1800 is due at time of pickup. The last day to pay the final payment is when you pick up your puppy.
Do you start potty training before pick up dates?
I try my best to start potty training and crate training. It is a bit easier for me to start potty training in the spring and summer time.
When do you get to pick your puppy?
We have people begin picking their puppy at week 3 and 4.
What do puppies come with when purchasing (first shots, food, etc.)?
Puppies come with their first round of shots, continued deworming and a bag of the current food that they are on to help wean them on to the food each family chooses.
