Meet the People
Let me introduce ourselves! My name is Megyn and Kayla is my mom and helps with the paperwork! Goldens on the Farm is run by us! We had our first litter with our original parents, Banja and Cowboy in 2010, and we have loved Golden Retrievers ever since. I officially began Goldens on the Farm in 2017, but had our first litter in 2010 and have loved learning more about this special breed. We work closely with our Vet Fairwood and strive to learn more and more each litter we have!
We strongly believe that ethical breeders are important as they can give families a smooth start and know the history of the line. We strive to always have an open communication with all of our families and want to answer any question you may have to the best of our ability. If we are unable to answer any question, we are able to ask our vet and give you a more educated answer. Furthermore, we WANT to talk on the phone with you prior to a deposit being put down. We welcome visitors to come meet us, our dog parents and their little pups. Our spots go quickly and, often only have a couple pups available by the time they are born, so please reach out with any questions about our upcoming litters!
Health Testing Questions:
We strongly believe that Health Testing our breeding dogs is so crucial to being an ethical breeder. It gives us the knowledge to know which lines we should continue. We work with OFA and test hips, elbows and thyroid. We also use the PennHip testing method for some of our dogs. Each of our dogs also has a basic cardiac exam. On the “Meet the Dogs” page, you can see written what tests each dog has. I update it as soon as each dog get’s a new health test. I am working to get my newer breeding dogs fully CHIC health tested.
CHIC Program Requirements:
- either an OFA Radiographic Hip Evaluation or PennHip Evaluation (At least 4 months of age).
- an OFA Radiographic Elbow Evaluation
- an Annual Eye Exam, (results registered with OFA).
- either a Congenital Cardiac Exam at 12 months or older, with exam by cardiologist, advanced Cardiac Exam or a Basic Cardiac Exam at 12 months or older, with exam by cardiologist.
My favorite part of each litter is getting to know each of our families as they join the Goldens on the Farm clan.
